OTTAWA INTERNATIONALS SOCCER CLUB (OISC)

Indoor Skills Development Program 2006-2007

Program Objectives

The focus of the indoor skills development program will be on individual skill development – first touch, dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, and small-sided games – to improve handling the ball “at your feet” in order to make good decisions.  All the players will work and develop at their own level / pace.  This is not training geared strictly for players who were on competitive teams in the past but for anyone who wants to improve their soccer skills.

In addition to skills training in a gym environment, this year we have added game nights which will be held at the Gloucester Dome (artificial turf).  Over the 15-week program, each age group will have 2 to 4 Wednesday evening games scheduled in which they play against other skills participants from the program.  This is a great chance to meet new friends and develop sportsmanship.

This program is a step-by-step approach to improve individual player’s skills. Regardless at what level you play, having fun at soccer is better enjoyed when you understand the game and have the necessary skills to play.

All sessions will be lead by a highly-skilled, qualified instructor.

The Ottawa Internationals will also be running competitive winter programs for those players not included in the list above. The contacts are:

What to Bring

Each participant should come prepared to practice.  They will need dry, non-marking indoor shoes, shin guards, shorts, soccer socks, a full water bottle and a soccer ball.  Please note that shin guards are mandatory and players will not be able to participate if they do not have them.  For games at the dome, regular outdoor cleats can be worn.

All participants will receive a program T-shirt around early December.

Schedule

The program will begin the first week of November and end the week before March Break. Depending on the individual school, there may be a week cancellation. The club is extremely pleased to add to our program this year additional times at the Gloucester Dome on Wednesdays. For the youngest group this will be twice while the others will be four times. These will be used for games and the exact weeks will be identified in October.

Adjustments to this schedule may have to be made depending on the registrations received. Due to the limited gym space, some sessions may fill quickly and we suggest early registration.
