June 7 & 8, 2008 Festival

Leitrim Park

1.      The DSP festival for June 7-8 will be held at Leitrim Park. The schedule will have U5 and U9 playing on Saturday, while U7 and U11 will play on Sunday.

2.      Games will be scheduled on the hour. U5 will play one game with 20 minute halves and a 5 minute half time. U7 will play two games while U9 and U11 will play three games. All games have two 25-minute halves with a 5-minute half time break. Every game should start on time. If your game starts late it ends on the hour no matter what.

3.      All games will have referees and each team must have a game sheet in order for the referee to start the game. The game sheets are on the website and at the referee tent.

4.      The fields will be lined and schedules laid out so as to minimize the number of U-7 and U-9 games played with common borders. All teams should have an hour off between their games.

5.      For games, players and coaches on one side of the field and parents on the other. Please mark a technical area with your cones, which must be on your half of the field.

6.      There are around 70 teams all together. Most groups will have an even number of teams for those that have an odd number we have either asked a large team to split into two teams for a game or a team has to have a lay-over between games.

7.      With regards to nets, for all U-7 games, each team will use their own PUGG net. For the U-9, each team who plays a first game on a field must put up their net and leave it for the day. The net must be picked up after the last game that is played on this field. This is an inconvenience but everyone must take their turn. For U-11, the nets will be put up for you but you must pick –up your portable net at the truck.

8.      We will once again provide an information tent and canteen sponsored by Boston Pizza. Team pizza orders should be made in advance.

9.      We remind all DSP volunteers, coaches and managers to refrain from smoking at the festival. It is obvious why we ask you not to smoke in front of the children since you are role models and we are encouraging a healthy athletic event.

10. The big challenge at this festival is the player and team photos. Please be on time and prepared and follow the procedures.

Thank you again to all our volunteers and we look forward to another successful festival.
