Development Soccer Program (DSP)

July 5 & 6, 2008 Festival

Brewer Park

-                 The DSP festival for July 5-6 will be held at Brewer Park and U7 & U11 will play on Saturday while U9 will play on Sunday.

-                 Games will be scheduled on the hour. U07 and U11 teams will get two games each while U09 will get three games. All games have two 25-minute halves with a 5-minute half time break. Every game must start on time. If your game starts late it ends on the hour no matter what.

-                 All games will have referees and each team must have a game sheet provided by the team(s) in order for the referee to start the game. The game sheets are found on the DSP website under forms.

-                 Very very important: If there are any requests for game deviations, they must be received by Monday June 25 at the latest and hopefully a schedule will be on the site by June 30. If your team is not attending the July festival we must be advised by June 25. Please remember that revisions may have to be made and that you should periodically check the website for changes to the schedule right up to the weekend.

-                 The fields will be lined and schedules laid out so as to minimize the number of U-7 and U-9 games played with common borders. All teams should have an hour off between their games.

-                 For games, players and coaches on one side of the field and parents on the other. Please mark a technical area with your cones, which must be on your half of the field. .

-                 There are around 70 teams all together. All groups will hopefully have an even number of teams.

-                 With regards to nets, for all U-7 games, each team will use their own PUGG net. For the U-9 and U-11, each team who plays a first game on a field must put up their net and leave it for the day. The net must be picked up after the last game that is played on this field. This is an inconvenience but everyone must take their turn.

-                 We will once again provide an information tent, referee tent and canteen.

-             We remind all DSP volunteers, coaches and managers to refrain from smoking at the festival. It is obvious why we ask you not to smoke in front of the children since you are role models and we are encouraging a healthy athletic event.

-             We are hoping to have the photos for distribution at this festival. If they are ready in time, all team managers will be responsible for picking them up at the information tent.

-             We are trying to put out a DSP booklet which will list all the players. If you have not sent in your team name and player jersey number, please do so.
