1- Our club requirement for volunteer DSP coaches is to have at least 4 hours of training in their first year. For our returning coaches that did not take a course last year, they have to retake the 4-hour course or advance to one of the new LTAD courses. We realize that you are all volunteers and have time constraints but we have provided a variety of times in the hope that each and every one of you can attend a course.
2- All these sessions are in gyms so please come prepared to participate in the drills. There will be one hour of discussion on the philosophy and program.
3- Each of these sessions has a participant limit due to the size of the gym. Coaches will be registered on a first come first served basis so please register early. If you have any questions please contact Ali at dsp@ottawasoccer.com or 613-745-5009.
New LTAD Courses:
Active Start
U4-U6 Male and Female: First Kicks, fundamental movement and play. Duration: 3.5 Hours.
Fundamentals
U6-U9 Male and U6-U8 Female: Fun with the Ball, fundamental movement and soccer skills. Duration: 7 hours.
Learning to Train
U9 to U12 Male and U8 to U11 Female: Golden age of learning, development soccer skills and speed. Duration: 14 hours.
Making Ethical Decisions (MED)
In person workshop (4 hours), home study and web based learning. By successfully completing the MED workshop coaches will be fully equipped to handle ethical situation with confidence and surety. MED helps coaches identify the legal, ethical, and moral implications of difficult situations that present themselves in the world of team and individual sport.
